Travel Information for Participants

We are excited to welcome you to Genoa for the conference on August 26, 2026! To help you plan your journey, we would like to share some travel tips to facilitate your arrival and departure.

Venue

The IFPB2026 conference will be held in Genoa, the most important seaport city in Italy, capital of region Liguria, and birthplace of numerous protagonists of the Italian and world history, such as Cristoforo Colombo and Niccolò Paganini. Genoa’s name probably originates from the latin word “knee” or “angle” because of its geographical position.

The city centre of Genoa is one of the most extended medieval Historic Centre of Europe, a maze of alleys (caruggi) that unexpectedly end up in small squares with splendid residences and churches, where many works of art were collected and guarded for centuries. The conference will take place in the headquarters of the University of Genoa. The building, located at number 5 of Via Balbi, was designed by Bartolomeo Bianco in 1634.
